Table I. Visual and dimensional examination
Examine |
Defects |
Bucket |
Dimensions not as specified. Not round or oval shape. Capacity not as specified. Coating not as specified. Bail absent, deformed, or not coated. |
Wringer |
Rollers not specified dimensions. One roller not fixed or one not movable. Rollers not material specified. Rollers not smooth, uniform and even. Rollers do not turn easily and smoothly. Wringer action not foot operated. Movable roller does not move freely. When released, movable roller does not return immediately to full open position. |
Assembly |
Wringer not permanently attached to bucket. |
4.4 Testing. The inspection level for the following tests shall be S-2. The failure of any sample of any test shall fail the lot.
4.4.1 Capacity. Select a single bucket from the samples. With the bucket on a flat hard surface, 16 quarts (15.14 L) of water shall be poured into the bucket. If necessary, a bucket without the wringer may be tested to demonstrate capacity (see 4.4.1.1). If bucket cannot hold a minimum of 16 quarts (15.14 L), the sample shall fail.
4.4.1.1 Alternate capacity. If it is necessary to remove the wringer assembly to allow the full 16 quarts of water to be introduced, the contractor may use an alternate bucket of the exact same dimensions but without the wringer to demonstrate capacity. This is in order to prevent the destruction of a production bucket/wringer assembly by removal of the permanently attached wringer.
