COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BRUSH , SCRUB, BASEBOARD
The General Services Administration has authorized the use
of this commercial item description by all Federal agencies.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This commercial item description (CID) covers baseboard scrub
brushes with both natural and synthetic filaments.
2. CLASSIFICATION
2.1 Classification.
Type I - Synthetic filaments.
Type II - Natural filaments.
3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
3.1 Block. The block shall be wood or plastic at the manufacturer’s option.
Wood blocks shall be fine textured, close and straight grained hardwood. Plastic
blocks shall be general purpose impact resistant plastic molding material
commercially used for floor brushes. The block shall be triangular in shape
similar to figure 1 and meeting the requirements of table I. Two ACME threaded
holes shall be provided for handles centered longitudinally in the base of the
block . The holes shall be drilled at an angle of 45° flOO from the vertical
through the block, or to a minimum depth of 1-1/16 inch (2.70 cm) . Each hole
shall be threaded with an ACME thread having 5 threads per inch (2.5 cm) . The
holes and threads shall be of such dimensions so as to enable a handle with
threads as specified by CID A-A-3082 Type I, to be attached.
3.2 Filaments.
3.2.1 Natural. The natural filament shall be 100% oiled palmetto, a mixture of
tule and tampico, or 100% bassine.
3.2.2 Synthetic. The synthetic filament shall be nylon or polypropylene at the
manufacturer’s option.
