COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BRUSH, BOTTLE, BURETTE, FLASK
PIPET, AND TEST TUBE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial
item description, for all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This commercial item description covers brushes intended for
use in cleaning laboratory glassware such as bottles, burettes, flasks, pipets,
and test tubes.
2. CLASSIFICATION
2.1 Classification. Brushes shall be of the following types, styles,
classes, sizes, and models, as specified (see 7.1).
Type I – Test tube
Type II – Pipet
Type III – Bottle and Burette
Type IV – Flask
Style – Dome tip
Style B – Tuft tip
Style C – Conical tip
Style D – Single fan tip
Style E – Open end
Class 1 – Hog Bristle
Class 2 – Synthetic filament
Sizes (in inches) = 1/4 (6.4 mm), 1/2 (12.7 mm), 3/4 (19.0 mm)
1 (25.4 mm), 1-1/4 (31.8 mm), 1-1/2 (38.1 mm)
2 (50.8 mm), 2-1/4 (57.2 mm), 3 (76.2 mm)
Model W – Wooden handle
Model TW – Twisted wire handle
