COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BUCKETS, MOP, METAL
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification RR-B-800
This commercial item description covers zinc coated steel mop buckets.
Salient characteristics:
Oval Shaped.
Spider chassis (bucket carrier) with four ball bearing swivel casters with a wheel diameter of not less than 1-7/8 inches.
Sizes. Three regular commercial sizes: 16 quart, 26 quart, and 35 quart.
All buckets must meet the below test:
Bucket, rim, and sidewall test. Remove the spider chassis from the bucket. If the spider chassis is not removable, remove the casters only. Using a wringer designed for use with the size bucket to be tested, mount the wringer to the bucket rim in the conventional manner. Place a block of wood or other suitable material of sufficient thickness in the mop compartment so that the pressure plate or bars, as applicable, bottom on the block when the handle is in the horizontal position. Apply a test load of 425 + 5 pounds perpendicular to the handle where the hand normally grips and hold the load for 5 to 10 seconds. The wringer may be modified if necessary to be able to be used in this test. If the top rim or bucket walls show any readily apparent visual permanent deformation the bucket fails the test.
Workmanship. The completed bucket shall present a neat, finished appearance both inside and outside and shall exhibit no evidence of sharp, jagged, rough, or other unfinished components. The bucket shall be free from defects which may affect its durability, serviceability, and appearance.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this commercial item description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawing, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered Materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing and marking. The packaging and packing shall be in accordance with normal commercial practice and shall assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with the National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
