COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
WRINGER, MOP
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in preference to Federal Specification RR-W-670.
This commercial item description covers steel and malleable iron squeeze or gear and rack mop wringers in three commercial sizes, coated to resist corrosion under normal service conditions.
Salient characteristics:
Sizes, the wringers shall be in one of the three regular commercial sizes, small, medium, and large.
All wringers must meet the following test to be acceptable:
Wringer test. Place a block of wood or other suitable material in the mop compartment of sufficient thickness so that the pressure plate or bars, as applicable, bottom on the block when the handle is in horizontal position. Apply a load of 250 + 5 pounds perpendicular to the handle where the hand normally grips and hold the load for 5 to 10 seconds. Examine the wringer for conformance. If the wringer parts, including handles, loosen, breaks, separate, permanently deform, or are damage in any way that will affect normal functioning of the wringer or cause the wringer to hang up on the side of the bucket, the wringer fails the test.
Workmanship. The completed wringer shall present a neat, finished appearance and shall exhibit of sharp, jagged, rough, or other unfinished components. The wringer shall be free from defects which may affect its durability, serviceability, and appearance.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this commercial item description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawing, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered Materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing, and marking. The items shall be packaged in accordance with normal commercial practice and packed to assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Shipping containers shall be marked as specified in the contract or order.
The following products meet the minimum criteria of acceptability.
