HANDLE, ACME THREADED END

(TELESCOPIC)

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of

this commercial item description in preference to Federal

Specification R-R-H-0060.

This commercial item description covers aluminum, telescopic, insulated, extension handles.

Salient characteristics:

Design. The telescopic handle shall be made of anodized aluminum, with handle shaft into which a tubular extension section (slider tube) shall be telescoped.

Sized and dimensions. Size shall be 5 to 10 feet. The �5 to 10 feet� size designation requires a handle shaft of 5 feet� (plus 2 inches; minus 0 inch) a maximum extension capability of 10 feet (plus 4 inches; minus 0 inch), and be capable of adjustment of length to any point between 5 to 10 feet.

Weight. The 5-10 foot handle shaft shall not weight more than 2.5 pounds complete.

Handle. The handle shall be a 2 piece (handle shaft plus 1 slider tube), assembly. The handle shall have tension tight locking arrangement to securely lock the slider tube in extended positions of any point within the range of adjustment governed by the size. The inner slider tube shall smoothly finished. The outer (distal) end of the inner slider tube shall have a heavy-duty metal Acme thread (3/4 � 5 threads per inch) for a minimum of 1-1/16 inch for direct attachment of brushed, paint rollers, adaptors and other items having a threaded hole. The handle shall be balanced to eliminate skipping when in an extended position.

Plastic sleeve insulator. The aluminum handle shaft shall be covered with a plastic sleeve made from a vinyl polymer. The wall thickness of the plastic shall be not less than 0.031 inch and shall be shrunk tightly onto the aluminum tubing. The finished handle shall have a molded vinyl cap of the same material and color as the sleeve.

Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description, and that the product conforms to the producer�s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and is the same product sold in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.

Regulatory requirements. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.

Packaging, packing, and marking. Packaging, packing, and marking shall be as specified in the contract order.
